Short story: "The Lost Dog"

Tom is 10 years old. He lives in a small town in England. One Saturday morning, Tom and his dog Max go to the park. Max is a brown dog with a white spot on his ear. Tom loves Max very much.
At the park, Tom sees a squirrel. "Look, Max!" he says. But Max doesn't look at the squirrel. Max runs after a ball! The ball rolls into the forest. Max runs into the trees.
"Max! Come back!" Tom shouts. But Max doesn't come back. Tom is worried. He walks into the forest. "Max? Max!" he calls.
After ten minutes, Tom hears a sound. "Woof! Woof!" It's Max! Max is sitting next to a tree. And next to Max is... a kitten! Max found a lost kitten.
Tom smiles. "Good boy, Max!" He picks up the kitten and walks home with Max. Now Tom has a dog AND a kitten.
